Aircraft Medical strikes deal in Scandinavia with CMA Medico (Press Release)

Aircraft Medical, the UK medical devices company, is pleased to announce it has reached an agreement with CMA Medico for distribution rights across Denmark, Sweden and Norway for the McGRATH® Series 5 Laryngoscope (the “McGRATH®”), the world’s first fully portable video laryngoscope. The Directors estimate that the agreement, which runs to 2012, could generate revenues of £1.9m for Aircraft Medical over a 5 year period. The award winning device was originally designed by Matt McGrath, Aircraft Medical’s CEO. To date, the Company has secured deals in the UK and Ireland, Canada, United States of America, Italy, France and Benelux.
CMA Medico operates in Denmark, Sweden and Norway and focuses on delivering high quality medical equipment within the areas of non-invasive diagnostics, airway management and imaging tools. Since its launch the McGRATH® Series 5 video laryngoscope has helped medics secure the airway of patients, enabling successful intubation in difficult conditions where other equipment has failed. The life-saving technology has been in development for over 8 years and is the subject of a substantial IP portfolio, which expanded recently with the filing of 7 new patents for next generation applications. The risks associated with difficult intubations can lead to patient trauma, broken teeth, cross infection and in severe circumstances brain damage and death. The McGRATH® technology is designed to address these issues, its portability differentiates it from existing video laryngoscopes, which rely on external cables for power and remote monitors.
